Issued as part of the Royal Australian Mint’s Floral Emblems of Australia series, the 1999 release celebrates the Common Heath (Epacris impressa), the floral emblem of Victoria.
The reverse, designed by Horst Hahne, features a highly detailed representation of the Common Heath against the deeply mirrored proof field. The obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
With a worldwide mintage of just 2,500 coins, this is a genuinely limited Australian gold proof issue, combining substantial intrinsic gold value with the additional collectability of a low-mintage Royal Australian Mint release.
